Yearly VPS Specials Explained

How the seasonal yearly VPS specials differ from the standard lineup: annual prepay, allowances, hardware placement, same-price renewals, and sell-outs.

A few times a year we run seasonal VPS specials: small KVM servers at a low annual price, in limited quantities. They are real servers on the real network with the real support, and they differ from the standard lineup in a few specific ways you should know before you buy.

What is different#

SpecialsStandard VPS lineup
BillingAnnual prepay onlyMonthly or annual
Storage and transferSmaller allowances than the equivalent standard planFull plan allowances
HardwareFlexible placement across our enterprise platforms; may or may not be AMD EPYCFixed platform per line (EPYC on Performance, Intel on Foundational)
LocationSeattle, WA only, 1 Gbps portSeattle, WA
QuantityLimited per size; sells outStock-controlled, normally available
Renewal priceSame as the price on the card, for as long as you keep itSame
Network, panel, supportIdenticalIdentical

The specs are guaranteed, the silicon rotates#

The vCPU count, RAM, storage, and transfer on the card are what you get. What varies is the underlying processor generation, which we place based on capacity at deploy time. That flexibility is the discount. If you need a specific platform, for example the high-clock EPYC line for a latency-sensitive app, buy the standard plan; see Performance VPS, Foundational VPS, or VDS?.

Renewal is not a trap#

A special renews at the price you paid, indefinitely, as long as it stays active. There is no teaser rate and no year-two surprise. Renewal follows the normal anniversary billing rules: the invoice is generated ahead of the anniversary and charged to your stored payment method, so keep that method valid.

Sold out?#

When a size sells out it is gone until the next seasonal special. We run them throughout the year, so bookmark /specials/ and check back when the season changes. We do not take waiting lists, because a promise of stock we do not have would be exactly the kind of bull we avoid.

Everything else is normal#

Specials appear in the cloud portal like any VPS, with the same reinstall, rescue, snapshot, and networking controls, the same 30-day money-back guarantee on new orders (see Refunds), and the same engineers on tickets. Upgrades within the specials line are not offered; if you outgrow one, move to a standard plan and we will help with the migration.

Still stuck? Real engineers answer tickets around the clock, and the status page shows anything network-wide before you ask.
